History :

“Go Tell Aunt Rhody” was thought to have been composed for a 1752 opera by the philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau. It is believed that this is the “Aunt Rhody” tune. There is no known source for the text, but it is believed that it is connected to the Anansi trickster cycle of West Africa.
